Bringing Paech Basin To Life

At GreenInc, we specialise in commercial landscape construction that transforms spaces, enhances the environment, and provides practical solutions for growing communities.

One of our standout projects, the Paech Basin at Lanser’s Aston Hills in Mount Barker, is an excellent example of how thoughtful landscape construction can address the challenges of stormwater management while creating beautiful, sustainable green spaces. Through our work, we strive to deliver landscapes that are functional and visually appealing, benefiting both residents and the environment.

Understanding the Importance of a Stormwater Basin

The Paech Basin plays a vital role in managing stormwater for the expanding community of Lanser’s Aston Hills. A stormwater basin is an engineered feature that collects and stores excess water, releasing it at a controlled rate to prevent flooding and erosion. As urban areas grow, managing stormwater effectively becomes increasingly important, and basins like this one are key to maintaining the health and safety of the surrounding environment.

In addition to its functional role, the Paech Basin is designed to enhance the local landscape, offering a green space that can be enjoyed by both residents and wildlife. Through expert landscape construction, we’ve created a beautiful area that not only addresses the practical need for stormwater management but also adds value to the overall aesthetic of the community.

Building a Functional and Beautiful Landscape

Our team based in Mount Barker, in the Adelaide Hills worked diligently to bring the Paech Basin to life, ensuring that every element of the landscape construction was meticulously executed. The team was committed to creating a landscape that would seamlessly blend into its surroundings while providing lasting functionality.

One of the key features of the Paech Basin is the use of corten steel edging. This material not only provides a modern, industrial appearance but also plays an essential role in defining the basin’s structure. The weathered look of the corten steel creates a beautiful contrast against the natural elements of the landscape, adding both visual interest and durability to this landscape construction project.

Rock Walls and Compacted Sand

Integral to the design of the Paech Basin are the rock walls and compacted sand. The rock walls, constructed from natural stone, help to manage the flow of water and direct it into the basin’s catchment area. These walls also contribute to the overall aesthetic, creating a rugged yet sophisticated look that complements the rest of the landscape.

Our team carefully laid compacted sand to provide a stable foundation for the plants and trees in the basin. This material improves drainage and ensures the soil remains healthy, supporting the growth of the various plant species selected for the site. Together, the combination of rock walls and compacted sand enhances the functionality and appearance of the basin.

Plantings and Biodiversity

Over 160 trees and 12,000 plants were installed throughout the landscape. These plants help filter water, reduce erosion, and provide essential habitat for local wildlife.

In addition to their functional benefits, the plantings contribute to the overall biodiversity of the area. The variety of species encourages the presence of insects, birds, and small animals, creating a thriving ecosystem that benefits both the environment and the community. As the plants mature, they will continue to enhance the landscape, adding beauty and ecological value.

Automated Irrigation for Sustainability

To ensure the health of the plants throughout the Paech Basin, a fully automated irrigation system has been installed. This system is designed to be efficient, delivering the right amount of water to each plant while minimising waste. The automated irrigation system is just one example of how sustainable practices are integrated into the landscape construction, ensuring that the basin remains healthy and vibrant over time.

Moving the Earth to Make a Difference

At GreenInc, we are driven by the belief that every landscape we create can make a difference. Through expert landscape construction, we are able to deliver projects like the Paech Basin, which not only address practical challenges such as stormwater management but also contribute to the overall beauty and sustainability of the environment. This project is a testament to the power of well-executed landscape construction, where every element is thoughtfully considered to create a space that serves the needs of both the community and the natural world.

In addition to environmental impact, we are also proud to deliver social impact. We are backed by Bedford and provide employment opportunities to people with disability and other barriers to employment. It is our mission to move the earth to make a difference.

As the Paech Basin matures, we look forward to watching the plants grow and evolve, bringing lasting value to the residents of Lanser’s Aston Hills. We are proud to be part of such an important project, where expert landscape construction meets sustainability and enhances the local environment for years to come.
